Youngest Daughter and I decided that our one Thanksgiving decoration, my turkey pillow, needed a kippah (yarmulke) for the upcoming holiday.
Regular kippah too big. Hmm. What to do? |
Cut smaller circle. This is why we have a cajillion kippahs leftover from Youngest Daughter's bat mitzvah. So that we can cut them up. |
Attempt to sew a nice edge on tiny kippah. |
Results not so great. |
Try # 2 - looking better with gold trim. |

i laffed as soon as I read the title! Recognized the pink satin yarmalke (sp?) from YD's bat mitzvah. Really nice job. Prayer shawl is a nice touch. Just please don't put this out on your porch; neighbors will most likely confuse it with a goose.
Shalom!
NOT Thanksgivukkah! It's Thanksalatke.
The turkey looks cute, especially in the prayer shawl, but I still think the kippah looks a little bit like a Shriner's fez. I fear that is culturally inconsiderate... I might have been to too many parades...
(Also, I'm still in denial that the holidays are upon us.)
That's a level of craftiness to which I could never aspire. Awesome.
"Thanksalatke" is great!
That is SO cute. My MIL has the same turkey pillow--I wish she'd jazz him up a bit now, too!
I love the photo of the turkey with the yarmulke and prayer shawl- that's one sassy looking turkey!
