Thanksgiving Survey 2024: Game

So. many. dice.

Looking for solace and levity wherever we can find it, in any possible amount, we turn to the Common Household’s autumn tradition, The Thanksgiving Survey.

Thanksgiving survey:

GAME

1. What is a game for which you are thankful?

2. Tell about a game from your childhood.

If you are so inclined, please feel free to share your answers in the comments.  Or not.  It’s up to you.

Home-made Jeopardy, constructed
for a major birthday

A different sort of game.

I am grateful for Settlers of Cataan! My entire family loves playing it and it requires more than just luck of the draw to win.
A childhood game I still love is Uno. I have fond memories of playing it with a dear friend in a rowboat in the middle of a lake where we'd go to escape annoying younger siblings during family vacations.

I'm grateful for games like Scrabble that help keep me sharp in my 4th quarter. From my childhood, I recall a game called Masterpiece. I don't know why we even had that game -- my family wasn't very artsy. In recent years I've taken several art history classes at the nearby university, and the images from Masterpiece all came back to me.

I'm grateful for the card game called Wizard, which we play often when we're with dh's side of the family.
Two games from childhood come to mind: one is "Go Fish" and the other is playing penny poker with my brothers when Dad was at a meeting. (They recently reminded me that Dad disapproved of poker because it was gambling, so we had to keep it from his knowledge.)
