Brief surfacing

I am briefly coming out of my self-imposed Daylight Schmaving Time hibernation to let you all know that your blog posts are saving my sanity.

I am visiting the Old Folks' Home.  There is no better place to undergo the ridiculous fiddling with the clocks that is known as either "Spring Ahead" or "Fall Back" because nothing happens here.  It barely matters at all what time it is.  But you had better not be late for dinner at 5:15! There is an underlying chronic insanity here due to the personalities and health situations of certain individuals about which I am not permitted to discuss any particulars.

Add to that the fact that I have spotty internet access (which must be secure for me to get my work and personal e-mails) and I left my kindle at home by mistake and the end result is certified battiness.  Except I AM able to read y'all's blogs.

Thank you for keeping me more sane than I would be otherwise.

Re-entering hibernation until DST-induced grumpiness fades.  Keep Calm and Don't Blink.

Oh, forgetting your Kindle! Very bad. Does the Old Folks Home have a library?

Oh. Ooooh goodness. I have spent long hours at various nursing homes, and am not entirely sure why I haven't seen well-funded research labs set up at every single one of them, because time does not exist as we know it in those places. They're like whatever the opposite of a wormhole is. I always feel like I'm trapped in a Dali landscape in there because I swear to you the clocks melt before my very eyes. I feel this way despite loving both old people and jigsaw puzzles.

I remember visiting my Grandma when she lived in assisted living, and dinner time was very precise! She could not be late for dinner! I hope you have escaped the Old Folk's Home by now. :)

Dinner is EVERYTHING at The Home. Hope it's going okay for you by now...and that the TV isn't permanently tuned in to Wheel of Fortune.

I take my computer with me to visit my dad. Usually it is only good for showing him photos of the grandkids, but this time he actually had interest (and amazingly, his facility had a decent wifi signal) in listening to a couple of recorded sermons from my church. I'm not really sure what he thought of my husband's latest sermon, but at least he listened!
