I’m feeling a bit wistful about Halloween. It is likely that yesterday was the last trick-or-treating for any of the Common Household. The plan is that Younger Daughter will be off to college next year!
Friendly and yet spooky at the same time? |
On the other hand, we had quite a few tiny princesses and
pirates come to our door this year, including one adorable girl who decided to
march right on into the house. There may
be an uptick in the preschool and primary school-aged population in the
neighborhood. ♪♫♩♫♩ It’s the circle of life.

Did you do Halloween stuff?

Yes, the neighborhood is "turning over" as they say. I always feel wistful about Halloween now that ours are out and on their own.
We live out in the boonies, so giving out candy is something I've missed. Emma spent Halloween with her boyfriend, handing out candy at his house, and going out trick-or-treating to his neighbors (they were in costume). I'm not a big fan of Halloween, but I am looking forward to future years living in a town and handing out candy to the younger set :-)
I think we had about 15 trick-or-treaters, but I was only home for the last little group. Such sweet little voices!
Your title had me singing the song, so I'm glad you ended with it as well. Great minds and all...
Although I wore a partial costume to work, we didn't do anything at home. I got burnt on trick or treaters after we were inundated with adults coming by after the local haunted house.
Our youngest will be off to college next year too! I had to work late and by the time I got home, the trick-or-treaters were already out. My husband had rushed home ahead of me and carved the two pumpkins at the very last minute. So we felt a little stressed by Halloween this year. After the hectic beginning, things improved. My son and his friend sat out on the porch and handed out candy.
I was not going to do a thing, but then my department had to host the monthly social at school and it was in Room 212. I brought my Halloween decorations from years ago to school and my study hall kids decorated the room. Everyone LOVED it. I was glad afterwards, even though it made people think I'm weirdly into the holiday.
